The CAMFA Auxiliary Corvette is a broad class, defining any non-military vessel re-purposed under the [[Civilian Auxiliary Military Forces Act|Civilian Auxiliary Military Forces Act (CAMFA)]], and meeting the loose specifications of a corvette. The CAMFA Auxiliary Corvettes tend to be private yachts and racing vessels, and are primarily used for picket duties. As a result of the broad nature of this class, no single exact set of specifications is available.<br/><br/>Because of the constant threat of pirates, and other renegade forces, the Initiative has taken to having a standing force of auxiliary corvettes, rather than to follow the traditional practice of preparing them at the start of a war, to allow for a more rapid response, and allow officers and crew of such vessels to be better acquainted with their equipment.

==History==
In the late 21st century, the Initiative's senate passed the [[Civilian Auxiliary Military Forces Act|Civilian Auxiliary Military Forces Act (CAMFA)]] in response to on-going fighting against pirates. The act allowed for civilian vessels to be fitted with military-grade propulsion, arms, and armor, at the price of being drawn on as emergency military vessels as needed.

A number of these vessels, tending to be the smaller and faster vessels, have been designated as corvettes, owing to their light arms and armament. As a result, many of them have seen use as scouts, pickets, and couriers as situation arises. They've also, when speed is essential, been designated as fast response craft, responding to emergency distress beacons before another, larger, vessel could make the same journey.
