			The ''Shiva''-class of frigate was initially slated for construction beginning in [[2285\|2285 CE]], however cost overruns on the ''Valravn'' class lead to significant delays. The first of the ''Shiva'' class would not be laid for a decade down until [[2295\|2295 CE]], initially using primarily spares left over from the construction of the first few ''Valravns''. Intended as an escort capable of engaging at longer range, the ''Shiva'' class found it's primary armament to multiple banks of torpedo launchers, capable of accepting multi-megaton tipped nuclear warheads in a pinch. Like the ''Valravns'', the ''Shiva'' class relies more heavily on automaton than contemporary designs, though that same automaton is typically of a more basic design than on contemporary designs.
