The ''Templar''-class Battleship was the first class of battleship ever fielded by [[The Initiative]], during the War of Secession, prior to the [[Fall of Earth]].

==History==
The ''Templar''-class of Battleship was designed to be able to out-gun the United Earth Force's (UEF) cruisers which were rapidly approaching being an equal to the [[Swordsman-class Cruiser|''Swordsman''-class Cruiser]]s. Construction on the first ''Templar''-class battleships began in [[2020|2020 CE]], after the UEF began harassing Initiative transports.

Following the [[Fall of Earth]], the ''Templar''-class was largely decommissioned with many of the vessels being converted into colony ships. Those that were not decommissioned and converted remained in service until the first [[Samurai-class Cruiser|''Samurai''-class cruisers]] were entering service, because of the ''Samurai''-class' ability to outgun the aging ''Templar''-class. The last remaining ''Templar''-class vessels were decommissioned, with a handful being sold to the largest interstellar corporations for anti-pirate operations, under the mandate that the vessels be registered to the [[Civilian System Patrol]].
