The CSPS Jötunheimr (AC2) is a retired Swordsman-class cruiser operated by an interstellar firm, used primarily for courier duties of special materials between the company posts.

History

The CSPS Jötunheimr (AC2) was built as the SFCV Jötunheimr (C9) at The Hive on Sanctuary. It was laid down in 2021 CE, and commissioned the following year, in 2022 CE, for use in the War of Secession. It would survive the war relatively unscathed, suffering only superficial damage during the Fall of Earth. It would be one of the few vessels to remain in active service when many of the fleet's vessels were mothballed following the war.

In 2129 CE, the Jötunheimr would be declared military surplus, and sold to an interstellar firm. Because of the expensive research materials utilized by the firm, the Jötunheimr was registered with the Civilian System Patrol (CSP) and allowed to remain armed, in order to serve as an armed transport for the research materials.

Namesake

The SFCV Jötunheimr (C9) was named for Jötunheimr (or Jǫtunheimr; often anglicized as Jotunheim), which would be the homeland of the Jötnar, the giants in Norse mythology.
