Every person born within The Initiative is given a series of identification chips shortly after birth, implanted at a subdermal layer and powered by a person's body heat. These chips serve a number of functions, from a general ID, to locator beacons for missing persons, to easily accessible medical records for first responders. When an individual implanted with these has a major event in their life that would be recorded by the government (such as marriage, or a criminal record), this is uploaded to the implant to ensure that anyone with access to the individual who might need to see such records has access to them, in case of an emergency.
