The ''Last Exile''-class Dreadnought is the heaviest warship fielded by [[The Initiative]]. It is designed to serve as a mobile floating fortress, capable of being almost entirely self sufficient, carrying the on-board manufacturing and mining capacity to support extended operations without resupply. Additionally, to protect such a large and valuable warship. While the intention behind the ''Last Exile'''s over-designed arms and armor is for self-defense purposes beyond the frontier, it is capable of engaging other warships on an equal footing.
==History==
The ''Last Exile'' class of dreadnoughts were initially conceived as the next generation of battleship, to supplant the [[Praetorian-class Battleship|''Praetorian''-class of battleship]], intended to form the backbone of the fleet and integrate both additional command and control, as well as fleet auxiliary functions, to minimize the logistics trains of a deployed fleet. Partway through construction of the initial ship of the class, the ''Oathbreaker'', that these vessels would be superlative exploratory vessels, capable of supporting themselves for extended periods, longer than anything currently in use by the [[Ranger Exploration Corps]], such as the [[imager-class Prowler|''Imager''-class of prowler]], and so it was decided to shift the focus of the new dreadnoughts towards that, while maintaining their functionality was full-fledged warships.
