Baldur, the first planet in the Arc System, is a largely marginal world. By traditional standards, it would be classified as uninhabitable. As a result of it's classification, the only colony on the planet is deep beneath the surface of the planet, to protect the colonists against the harsh heat of the nearby star, Arc.
The planet's sole industry is mining, having been settled to exploit it's resources in the early days of the space colonization effort. In more recent years, the output from the planet's mines have begun to wane, even with the use of automated mining systems.
