Design Details

The Mark I Energy Pistol (MIEP) is a personal energy weapon designed to replace the Universal Service Pistol. It is a plasma weapon fed by a powerpack inserted into the grip of the pistol. The weapon generates plasma in a chamber near the back of the pistol, before launching it at high speed down the barrel and towards the target.

Materials

The MIEP is constructed of synthetic polymers, with the barrel coated in a special heat-resistant polymer. However, due to the extreme heats of the plasma, the barrel requires changing on a fairly regular basis.

History

The Mark I Energy Pistol (MIEP) was first developed alongside the Mark I Energy Rifle (MIER), with the first prototype being unveiled in 2480 CE, the year after the first MIER prototype. However, it was found to have several serious design flaws, and was sent back to the design team. It remains unissued at this time.
