Background

Born on the colony world of Arxune, Kota Jacobs was the product of an affair between a Ground Forces Command Sergeant and a civilian doctor. Although raised by his biological mother and her husband, Kota remained close with his biological father, who encouraged him to seek whatever career he wanted. In a desire to leave the primeval world of Arxune, Kota entered into the local Ground Forces Command academy at the age of sixteen, after passing the required tests, to his mother's mixed dismay and pride.

Graduating the age of twenty, Kota was initially deployed with the 5th Light Infantry Company of 4th Division, operating in the outer colonies. Near the end of his stint in the outer colonies, he was severely wounded when his unit came under fire by separatists, but turned down immediate treatment in order to go along on a raid on the suspected base of the separatists, where he led one of the assault teams. For his injury he was awarded the purple heart, and for his valor, the bronze star.

When he was transferred from 4th Division back to the inner colonies, Kota elected to undergo a series of cybernetic enhancements, while recuperating from his wounds. With a brace of cybernetic enhancements, Kota joined the 11th Light Infantry Company. However, because of his experience in the outer colonies, Kota was often seconded from his unit to help prepare personnel headed to the outer colonies on what to expect in some regions. In 2500 CE, he was assigned as the executive officer of the 1st Mechanized Infantry Company of 2nd Division, where he often rode alongside 3rd Platoon as the platoon leader. He was riding with them in May of 2503 during the Heart of Winter Incident.

Personality Traits

Kota grew up as a rather shy and reserved boy, unsure of how to really interact with people. He eventually came out of his shell as a teenager, in order to pass the psychological tests required by the Ground Forces Command for officers. As a platoon leader, he does his best to remain on friendly terms with the men and women under his command, but by no means coddles them, often volunteering them for challenging assignments in order to push them to improve.
