Design Details

The CR25 "Tangent" is a magazine-fed chemical-propelled large-bore personal weapon, designed for use against large fauna, as well as for penetrating the armor used by many pirate gangs. In order to handle the stresses of the powder charge of such a large bore, the barrel contains a larger metallic content than that of contemporary military electromagnetic weapons, while the rest of the weapon is heavily reinforced composites. As a result, the CR25 is heavier than contemporary military-issue battle rifles.

Features

The CR25 is ultimately a rather primitive weapon, designed for durability on harsh frontier worlds where spare parts may be difficult to come by. It has an integral ammunition counter, to keep track of it's 25-round magazine, in addition to a folding stock.

History

The CR25 "Tangent" was first officially developed in 2201 CE, by Alliance Arms. It spent three years in testing by the government, with the Military Arms Research Service (MARS) considering it for implementation as a 55mm grenade launcher. Ultimately the military passed on it, but allowed it to be issued for anti-piracy operations, as well as for use on dangerous colony worlds. The CR25's major claim to fame was when it was utilized during the Sovereign Colonies Conflict.
