This would change during the [[Sovereign Colonies Conflict]], when the ''Ashmaker'' was one of a number of corvettes refitted for independent covert deep-space operations, jump in on the edge of renegade systems, and continue in-system on something resembling ballistic trajectory. The ''Ashmaker'' was one of the few corvettes to successfully accomplish it's mission, unlike it's sister vessel, the [[SFCV Angra Mainyu|''Angra Mainyu'']].
