History
The SFCV Arthur Pendragon (B2) was constructed at The Hive on Sanctuary, with the vessel being launched in 2020 CE; though several of the final fittings wound up being conducted in orbit. The SFCV Arthur Pendragon (B2) was dispatched with several others to Earth, in the Sol System, to help defend a number of transports carrying refugees and colonists from across Earth to Sanctuary.
The vessel suffered from one of the earliest cases of enmeshment in recorded space travel, requiring it to sit out some of the early weeks of the War of Secession. When it did rejoin the active fleet, the Arthur served with distinction, until the Fall of Earth. During the Fall, the Arthur was rammed by a damaged Earth vessel, which severely compromised the reactor's coolant systems. With the system already running at above the rated capacity because of the strain of the battle, the reactor rapidly overheated and caused a catastrophic meltdown, destroying the vessel.
Namesake
The SFCV Arthur Pendragon (B2) was named for the legendary English king, King Arthur Pendragon, son of King Uther Pendragon (for whom the SFCV Uther Pendragon (B1) is named). King Arthur was legendary for uniting the warring English factions, as well as the legends that grew around him.
