The Ninja-class is designed as a relatively stealthy air/space superiority fighter, capable of combat both in and out of an atmosphere. It carries two nose mounted coilguns, as well as two hull-mounted rocket pods. On it's "wings", it has eight hard points for rockets or additional fuel cells.
History
The Ninja class of fighters were the earliest attempts at making attack aerospace craft. While the design was initially intended to be launchable from scattered airfields across Initiative colonies, efforts were taken to adapt the fighters to allow them to be launchable using specialized sections of the magnetic rail lines used by Initiative transit networks. When the first Guardian-class carriers were designed, all efforts were put into making the Ninja class universally adaptable for carrier use as well, including altering the launch bays of the Guardian-class carriers to allow them to use electromagnetic rails to launch the fighters, utilizing the same systems as the transit network for this.
Namesake
Ninjas were warriors of old Japan, allegedly skilled in stealth and combat. The Ninja class was so name due to it's own stealth design and it's own combat capabilities.
