History
The RECV John Hemry (PS-02) was laid down for construction in 2047 CE alongside the RECV Robert Heinlein (PS-01). It would be launched a month after the Heinlein in 2050 CE, before heading to explore star systems in the general area around Initiative space.
The Hemry has had a long and distinguished career since 2050 CE, serving as one of the Ranger Exploration Corps' premier scout craft.
Namesake
The RECV John Hemry (PS-02) was named for retired United States Navy Lieutenant Commander John G. Hemry, who, after retirement, became a mildly prolific science fiction and fantasy author. It was portions of his writings that prepared the Initiative's founders for the challenges and ideas of an interstellar society.
