The SFCV Ramses (B9) was the second-to-last Templar-class battleship launched during the War of Secession. It would remain in service until the Praetorian-class battleships replaced it.

History

The SFCV Ramses (B9) was laid down for construction in 2029 CE, at The Hive on Sanctuary. It would be launched incomplete in 2031 CE, having been given a lower priority than many of the smaller escorts. Because the hull lacked many of the armaments and supporting equipment as yet, the Ramses was considered ideal for carrying colonists to Sanctuary from Earth, utilizing the additional empty space that would've been the ship's magazines.

Following Earth being quarantined, the Ramses spent several years unofficially mothballed, before being completed. It would be fully completed in 2056 CE, and would serve until 2342 CE when it was replaced by the new Praetorian-class battleships. Follow it's decommissioning by the Fleet, the Ramses would be transferred to the Colonial Authority, where it would be largely disarmed and used as a colony transport.

Namesake

The SFCV Ramses (B9) was named for an Egyptian Pharaoh, Ramses II, or "Ramses the Great" (1303 BCE - 1213 BCE), and as Ozymandias to the Greeks. He was considered perhaps the most powerful, and one of the most influential Pharaohs of Egypt, with a reign spanning longer than any other recorded Pharaoh.
