The SFCV Sanctuary (CV1-02) is the second of the Guardian-class Fleet Carriers. The Sanctuary is assigned as the Flagship of Second Fleet.

History

Launched in 2301 CE a month after the SFCV Terra (CV1-01) after a number of technological advancements made the concept of a space-borne carrier a viable concept. The Sanctuary conducted two years of shakedown cruises, focused on stress-testing it's systems, and participating in practice combat maneuvers.

The SFCV Sanctuary was noted for being the first of the carriers to suffer an flight deck accident, which occurred in 2305 CE, causing severe damage to the interior spaces of the vessel. The vessel was in drydock for eight months as repairs were conducted, which included stripping away a chunk of the damaged hull, cutting away modules that had fused to the hull, before adding in new synthetic diamond plates.

Namesake

The SFCV Sanctuary (CV1-02) is named for Sanctuary, the second planet colonized by humanity, and the capitol of The Initiative.
