The SFCV Avalon (C25) was a Swordsman-class cruiser built during the last years of the War of Secession. It would survive the war, to be eventually mothballed.

History

The SFCV Avalon (C25) was laid down at The Hive on Sanctuary for construction in 2029 CE, to be commissioned the following year, in early 2030 CE. It would serve out the final year of the war primarily supporting ground operations and as a troop transport. Following the war, the Avalon would remain in service, serving as a courier between the colonies.

In 2067 CE, the Avalon would be one of the first vessels to engage a pirate vessel in space. Because of the lack of experience of the pirate crew and builders, the Avalon was able to destroy the vessel without sustaining any damage.

In 2132 CE, the Avalon would be decommissioned and mothballed to be placed in the Aradesh Deep Space Storage Depot.

Namesake

The SFCV Avalon (C25) is named for the isle of Avalon, featured in Arthurian legends on Earth. It is said to be where the sword Excalibur was forged, and where King Arthur was taken to recover following his final battle.
