The SFCV Shangri-La (C21) was a Swordsman-class cruiser constructed during the War of Secession. It saw service through the remaining five years of the war, though it would not be present for the Fall of Earth. It would eventually be destroyed by sabotage in 2126 CE.

History

The SFCV Shangri-La (C21) was one of the last Swordsman-class cruisers built during the War of Secession. It was laid down for construction in 2024 CE, at The Hive on Sanctuary. Though the ship was largely completed the following year it would not fully completed until 2026 CE, when it was launched. It would serve out the rest of the war, largely assisting in fire support and escort duties.

Following the end of the war, the Shangri-La was mothballed while the Senate of the Initiative decided what to do with the Fleet following the war. It would be reactivated in 2062 CE, when it was brought back online to help patrol the expanding territories of the Initiative. It would be destroyed in 2126 CE, when an improvised explosive device detonated in the magazine, causing a chain reaction with several sabotaged warheads.

Namesake

The SFCV Shangri-La (C21) was named for the fictional mythical city of Shangri-La, a supposed paradise.
