The SFCV Urðarbrunnr (C18) was a Swordsman-class cruiser built for the War of Secession by the Initiative. It was decommissioned almost a century after the war.

History

The SFCV Urðarbrunnr (C18) was laid down in 2022 CE at The Hive on Sanctuary. It would commissioned in 2024 CE, to join Second Fleet, but was instead detailed to VIP transport duties for part of the war. The Urðarbrunnr served without a great deal of distinction during the early years of the war, but was tasked with transporting part of the Governing Council (the predecessor of the Senate) to Earth to negotiate ceasefires and treaties with various nations. Following the war, the Urðarbrunnr was one of the many vessels unofficially mothballed. It would be reactivated in the 2040s, to continue it's duties as a VIP transport between the fledgling colonies.

The Urðarbrunnr would be decommissioned in 2130, exactly 106 years after it was commissioned.

Namesake

The SFCV Urðarbrunnr (C18) was named for the well called Urðarbrunnr in Norse mythology, one of three said to be located beneath Ygddrasil, the world tree.
