History
The CSPS Valhalla (AC4) was laid down at The Hive on Sanctuary in 2021 CE, as the SFCV Valhalla (C10). It was launched the following year, in 2022 CE, largely for escort duties of transports during the War of Secession. It remained in fairly good condition, and was not mothballed following the war, instead serving to help scout out new systems while on loan to the Ranger Exploration Corps.
In late 2128 CE, it would be decommissioned, to make room for the new Samurai-class cruisers, that would replace it. It was kept mothballed, briefly, before being sold the following year as military surplus.
Namesake
The Valhalla was named for a location in Norse mythology, Valhalla (from Old Norse Valhöll "hall of the slain") was said to be a majestic, enormous hall located in Asgard, ruled over by the god Odin. Chosen by Odin, half of those who die in combat travel to Valhalla upon death, led by Valkyries, while the other half go to the goddess Freyja's field Fólkvangr.
