The SFCV Hvergelmir (C17) was a Swordsman-class cruiser launched during the War of Secession.

History

The SFCV Hvergelmir (C17) was laid down at The Hive on Sanctuary in 20023 CE. It would be launched the following year in 2024 CE, to join Second Fleet. The Hvergelmir would be deployed against the remnants of the United Earth Fleet (UEF), combating holdouts until 2037 CE, when The Initiative withdrew from the Sol System.

The Hvergelmir would remain active during the drawdown following the war. However, it would be decommissioned in 2124 CE, to be converted to aid in colonization efforts under the Colonial Authority by helping bring in loads of supplies. It would be scrapped in 2167 CE as it's role as a courier was replaced by the new Rider-class couriers.

Namesake

The SFCV Hvergelmir (C17) was named for one of three wells in Norse mythology located in Niflheim, at the base of Yggdrasil, the world tree.
