The SFCV Aesgard (C2) was a Swordsman-class Cruiser built for the War of Secession. It was destroyed during the Fall of Earth.

History

The SFCV Aesgard (C2) was built at The Hive on Sanctuary, in the Arc System. Like it's sisters ship, the SFCV Rosewall (C1), the Aesgard was not originally intended to serve as a warship, leading to several shortcomings in its design. After only a couple weeks of testing, the Aesgard was pressed into service, harassing the fledgling United Earth Fleet and attempting to drive them away from the relatively undefended transports bringing new colonists from Earth to Sanctuary. It would go on to join First Fleet, involved in attempting to blockade Earth and prevent any hostile forces from escaping the Sol System in pursuit of The Initiative, or of attempting to create an offworld base from which to later assault the Initiative.

Namesake

The SFCV Aesgard (C2) was named for the town of Aesgard, home of the Aesgard Military Depot, on Sanctuary, as well as home of one of the members of the original leadership council of The Initiative.
